Still Working Through

Every day every day just seems the same
All work, all play, stuck inside the same four walls
Eyes hazy, sinking in a dream
I watch, I stare for hours at this laptop screen
As the time turns to five o’clock
I put on my shoes and head down the stairs
Gradually unravelling my day of thoughts and cares
I open up the door to see,
Oh and it reminds me sweet relief
Of my freedom oh
The birds still sing
And the wind still blows it’s steady song
The sun’s still shining
And the leaves on the trees will still fall
As planet keeps turning
the flowers still bloom
When the world is closed
You’re still working through
The days feel like the months feel like days
Time slipped by, I blinked and March turned to May
In seconds the world turned upside down
No more face-to-face, no more crowded streets for now
Something that has kept me sane
In this unsettled uncertainty
Despite my limitations of adhering to restrictions
Open up the door and see,
Yes and it reminds me sweet relief
Of my freedom oh
The birds still sing
And the wind still blows it’s steady song
The sun’s still shining
And the leaves on the trees will still fall
As planet keeps turning
the flowers still bloom
When the world is closed
You’re still working through
